Fat makes you fat. It’s what everyone thinks and it makes sense! If you eat fat it must be easy for your body to store as fat, right? Well the truth is, the right kind of fat BURNS FAT! There are so many different types of fats, but what I believe it really boils down to is avoiding processed foods. Processed foods are the number one source of trans fats and processed sugars, both of which cause inflammation, weight gain, and other health issues. Here are my favorite healthy fat sources and their health benefits:
- Ghee
- I use ghee a lot in my recipes. The name sounds weird, but it’s really just butter with the bad stuff taken out. What you’re left afterwards is the pure healthy fat, which is lactose free & dairy free, good for digestion and metabolism. I use Fourth and Heart ghee because it’s so smooth and it doesn’t need to be refrigerated. They sell it at Sprouts and Whole Foods, but I always buy it on Amazon! Here are the links to my favorite products from them!
- Avocados
- Who doesn’t love avocado? Avocados are packed in healthy monounsaturated fats that contain oleic acid, which helps fight feelings of hunger. Careful though, a whole avocado has about 250 calories. If you are adding avocado to your meal, try to use 1/4-1/2 of one to avoid consuming too many calories.
- Olive & Avocado Oil
- I love cooking with olive & avocado oil not only because they help breakdown fat, but because they have rich flavors that enhance whatever I’m cooking. When it comes to veggies, I use Chosen Foods avocado oil spray because 1. Avocado oil has a higher smoking point than olive oil so it makes it easier to get them nice and crispy 2. It is easier to get an even coat of oil on your food and helps save hundreds of calories! Here is my favorite, and they are a San Diego company 😉
- Wild Salmon
- This pretty pink fish is packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which fight inflammation, help control blood clotting, and lower blood pressure and triglycerides. Click below to shop my favorite seafood seasoning!
Don’t be scared to eat healthy fats! Try implementing these foods in your diet and you might notice a decreased appetite and slimmer tummy!
