I skipped my usual Thursday night workout and went home to make dessert tongiht, but can you blame me when things like dairy, gluten, and grain free insanely good treats like this exists? Ever since @rachaelsgoodeats posted these raw mars bars I couldn’t get them off my brain and they did not disappoint 🍫 Here’s my take on the recipe!
Raw Mars Bars
Ingredients
Crust
- 1/2 cup raw almonds
- 1/2 cup raw cashews
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp pink salt
- 1 tsp coconut oil for coating the pan
Filling
- 3/4 cup almond butter
- 1/2 cup liquid coconut oil
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 cup water
Chocolate Coating
- 1 cup dark chocolate
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
Instructions
-
Blend together raw almonds, raw cashews, maple syrup, water, cinnamon and a pinch of pink salt. I used my nutribullet but you can use any blender or food processor. Press into a loaf tin coated with coconut oil or parchment paper and freeze for 10 minutes (don’t worry if it doesn’t spread out well, it will get less sticky once it’s been in the freezer for a little). While that’s in the freezer, make the filling! In the same blender or food processor, combine almond butter, liquid coconut oil, maple syrup, and water. Pour on top of the chilled crust and freeze for another hour or so. Once firm, cut into bars or squares. Then I generously drizzled melted dark chocolate + coconut oil over top all the bars and topped with pink salt. Place back in the freezer to harden then enjoy 🍫🍫
