In the past 6 months, CBD has gained some serious popularity and it’s not for no reason. I can now opt for a CBD infused latte or cocktail at a local restaurant or coffee shop, but why? What does it do? Am I going to get high and order 17 pizzas?! Well I’m here to answer all your questions and fill you in on what it is, why I use it and the benefits I’ve seen from using it. I’m also giving you a list of my favorite brands and some special discount codes for you all!
But first, what is CBD and is it legal?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a product that’s derived from cannabis aka WEED aka MARY J. So does regularly consuming CBD make you a stoner? Are you going to get the munchies and start wearing tie dye and lose all your brain cells? The answer is simply NO because there is one huge difference between CBD and the type of marijuana you smoke: CBD does NOT contain THC which creates the feeling of being “high.” Think of it as any other natural supplement you would take.

What are the benefits? Why do you take it?
There is a laundry list of benefits of CBD oil. A powerful stress reliever, anti-inflammatory, sleep aid, pain reliever, and is even being used to treat epilepsy and some forms of cancer. Click here for a great article that gets deeper into the many benefits of CBD.
I began taking CBD orally for anxiety. Since I was in high school, I have suffered from severe panic attacks. As I got older, I developed more generalized anxiety with occasional panic attacks. The thought of taking anything that would alter the way I feel freaks me out, so I was hesitant to try CBD and I feared it would make me feel not in control of my body or “high.”
After taking a few 5-10 mg doses, I noticed I was more relaxed at the end of the day when normally the stress work would catch up to me. I’ve never had trouble sleeping, but I did notice I was getting what seemed like better quality sleep that I have in the past.
I also began experiencing elbow pain after my workouts a few weeks ago. I applied CBD infused topical balm (link for this below) to my elbow and the pain went away within one hour. Sounds crazy, but this stuff seriously works like magic!!
The reason why I felt the need to share with you all is because I have tried A LOT of natural solutions for my anxiety: acupuncture, cupping, yoga, exercising, various herbs, which have helped me, but CBD has seemed to have the greatest effect on me thus far. I have heard multiple people that have tried CBD for their anxiety as well and they have all had similar, amazing results. Don’t forget, every body is different! It may not do the same thing for you, but I think its worth a shot.

What are the side effects?
There really aren’t many side effects that I found in my research other than sleepiness, dizziness, stomach irritability and low blood pressure. There has not been much research done on the effects of CBD, so there may be other effects that have not been discovered.
How much should I take?
Talk to your doctor or a health professional about your dosage. I have found that a 500-750 mg dose (about 8 mg per day) works best for me.
Where do I buy it?
Various health food stores and even some local shops in San Diego have been carrying different CBD products! There are also several online stores that I have tried out. There are many different ways to take it – drinks, lotion, oils, etc.
