Cabo San Lucas Guide

Travel· Uncategorized

Because who doesn’t need a Cabo Guide?! Since I’m pretty much a regular here these days (going 5 times this year….) so I thought I would share my favorite places (mainly restaurants lol) and travel tips!! Enjoy!

First off, let’s get the basics out of the way. Downtown Cabo is about 45 minutes from the airport and getting a cab there should cost you about $15-$20 per person. Another popular spot to stay/dine/explore is San Jose Del Cabo which is about 20 minutes from the airport and 45 minutes up the coast from Downtown Cabo. I would recommend staying near Downtown Cabo, especially if it’s your first time and if you are looking for more of a social/party experience. I have stayed in San Jose and it is BEAUTIFUL but definitely more mellow. Now let’s get to the good stuff….

Food & Drink

Flora Farms (San Jose Del Cabo)– Probably one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in the world! It’s no mystery why Adam Levine got married here. Not only are the grounds unbelievably beautiful, but their farm to table cuisine is phenomenal. Make a reservation and give yourself plenty of time before and after to walk the grounds and get a fresh cocktail.

Acre Baja (San Jose Del Cabo)- ALL of the vibes at this place. Celebs such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Owen Wilson have been known to hang here and it’s for a good reason! There’s truly an Instagram-able moment at every corner and if that’s not enough to sell you basic B’s the food and cocktails are INSANE. But it doesn’t come cheap – be prepared to cough up some cash ($100-$150 per person if you do it right). This place is also a hotel where you can stay in their “tree houses” but the reviews I have heard aren’t the best. I recommend staying as long as you can for food, drinks and a tour around the property to see the puppies, bunnies, goats and peacocks!

The Office- Such great food and margaritas served up right on the sand just steps from the beach. You really can’t ask for much else. This place is simple and fun and just feels like vacation in the best way. If you are in Cabo, this place is an absolute must for dinner.

Edith’s– Sister restaurant to the office (and just right up the street), this place has the best vibe and amazing food as well.

Hacienda Cocina- If you are looking to go to a nice dinner with incredible views, this is your place. The food is insane, but it is pricey!

Omega Sports Bar- Right between Mango Deck and Casa Dorada hotel is a cheap little fish taco spot right on the sand. It is some of the best tacos you will have in Cabo and the fact that you can enjoy them with an ice cold beer while looking out at the turquoise water is just something else. Get the coconut fish taco with a flour tortilla and just try not to dream about it for the rest of your life… dare you.

Mi Casa- This place is perfect for big groups and the food is always super good. Any place that makes fresh tortillas and serves them with literally everything on the menu is A ok in my book. It’s also walking distance to all the bars and clubs so it’s perfect for dinner before a night out.

London Bistro- A surprising spot with amazing breakfast and sandwiches. Perfect for a quick bite!

Bar Esquina- The perfect spot for cocktails and a bite to eat! They have super cute decor and live music.

Monkey’s Cave Bar- Best margaritas in Cabo!

If you want to do something other than eat (weird) here are some other fun bars, things to do & some tips!

Acre Baja (San Jose Del Cabo)– Alllll of the vibes. This place has unreal food and cocktails and you will definitely get your fair share of insta worthy photos. It does come at a price – be prepared to spend some $$$ (trust me its worth it). They do offer tree houses to stay in, but I haven’t heard the best reviews. I recommend staying as long as you can for food and drinks! Definitely give yourself time to walk the grounds.
The Office- Some of the best Mexican food that you can enjoy at your table on the sand just steps from the water.
Edith’s- REALLY good food with an amazing atmosphere. Just across the street from the office!
Hacienda Cocina- I haven’t been here (yet) but it has been highly reccommended by many. Great food and ambiance.

Sunset Monalisa- Insane views!! About 20 minutes from Downtown Cabo.
Omega Sports Bar and Grill- Best fish tacos on the beach! This place is right next door to Mango Deck and is the perfect casual lunch spot. Get the coconut fish taco!
Thompson Hotel roof
The London bakery behind McDonald’s
L’esquina
Mi Casa- I love this place for a big group dinner! There is tons of space and the food has always been amazing whenever I go.

Fun!

  • Sur Beach House (inside Bahia Hotel)
  • Cachet beach club
  • Thompson Hotel Rooftop Bar
  • Cabo Surf Hotel
  • Nowhere Bar
  • Mango Deck

Things to do!

  • Rent a boat, catamaran, Jet skiis, etc. at Medano Beach
  • Shopping at the markets downtown
  • Art walk in San Jose del Cabo on Thursday’s
  • Snorkeling at Chileno Bay
  • Sit on the beach and drink margaritas

Tips

  • Be aware of your surroundings – Cabo is relatively safe but don’t get too comfortable!
  • Book transportation ahead of time to and from the airport
  • Negotiate your taxi prices before you get in! They will negotiate with you and they start high!
  • Get a place with a small kitchen and load up at Costco on the way in!
  • Be prepared if you get sick! I always bring pepto, activated charcoal pills, and ginger tea in case I eat something that upsets my stomach.
  • HAVE FUN! Drink alllll of the tequila and eat all of the tacos. You can get back to your healthy routine when you get home – it’s not going anywhere.

The BEST salmon I’ve ever made 😍 I steamed th The BEST salmon I’ve ever made 😍 I steamed the broccoli AND got the perfect sear on my salmon in my @ourplace Always Pan. I love how multifunctional it is and the new Terracotta color is SO beautiful. Would make the most perfect Mother’s Day gift if I didn’t already buy my parents one for Christmas... 😂 My mom LOVES hers and how lightweight it is. It’s seriously the most perfect gift! @ourplace also has the cutest stackable plates, bowls and cups that are my latest kitchen obsession (the drinking glasses in Sunset are A DREAM). Ina Inspired Asian-Style Salmon
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
2 salmon filets (about 4 oz)
Avocado oil spray
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups broccoli florets
Sesame seeds to garnish
Instructions:
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and garlic. Pour half the mixture over your salmon and set aside while you steam your broccoli. I used the steamer basket in my @ourplace Always Pan.
Heat the same pan over medium heat and spray with avocado oil.
Once the pan is hot, place the salmon filets in flesh side down (skin side up) and cook for 2-3 minutes. Flip at cook until the flesh easily flakes off with a fork, about 3-4 minutes.
Pour additional sauce over top of the salmon and serve immediately with steamed broccoli.

If you’re looking to spice up your meal prep (li If you’re looking to spice up your meal prep (literally), add these Spicy Shredded Chicken Bowls to your lineup 👏🏼🔥 One of those meals you get excited to eat all day long. The basic shredded chicken chicken recipe (before you add the Franks and Greek yogurt) is a meal prep staple. You can spice it up to add to tacos, make chicken salad, add to pasta, the possibilities are endless! It’s so juicy and perfect. If you’re doing my 2 week reset, this recipe can totally replace any of the others on the meal plan if you’re eager to try it. ENJOY! 🔥
.
Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts
1 tsp Kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup water or chicken broth
1/3 cup Franks Red Hot (BBQ sauce is a great non-spicy option!)
1/3 cup Greek yogurt
4 cups spinach
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 regular rice, 1/2 cauliflower rice to serve (1/2 cup per serving)
Green onion to garnish
Instructions:
Place your chicken in your InstantPot and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Pour water or chicken broth in the pot to prevent burning.
Close the lid and ensure the valve is closed. Pressure cook on high for 10 minutes. When the time is up, turn the InstantPot off and let it naturally release the pressure.
Once the valve indicates the pressure has released, remove the chicken and shred on a cutting board. Discard of the juices in the pot.
Place shredded chicken in a bowl and add Greek yogurt and hot sauce. Stir well until the chicken is coated.
Rinse and dry the InstantPot and select the saute setting. Pour in a drizzle of olive oil then add in your spinach. Saute until slightly wilted, about 2 minutes.
Serve the spicy shredded chicken over rice with the sauted spinach. Top with green onion and drizzle with more hot sauce if you'd like! Makes 4 servings.
*You can make this chicken in a slow cooker (4-5 hours on high, 7-8 hours on low) or a regular pot with a lid (bring to a boil then cover and reduce heat to low for 20-30 min).
