Needed some comfort food tonight so decided on homemade Copycat Chick Fil A Nuggets & Special Sauce 💛 There will always be a special place in my heart for fast food. You don’t ALWAYS need to opt for the healthier option, but it’s the only way I can down a dozen nugs without feeling like trash 😂 SO HERE WE ARE! The best nugs and homemade sauce that tastes just like Chick Fil A’s (aka CRACK).
Copycat Chick Fil A Nuggets & Special Sauce
- 1 lb chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/3 cup pickle juice
- 1/4 cup milk I used oat
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup tapioca flour or arrowroot starch
- 2-3 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt & pepper
- 1/4 cup mayo Greek yogurt works too but it makes it more of a runny consistency
- 1 1/2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
In a large bowl, add your chicken, pickle juice, milk and beaten egg. Stir to make sure the chicken is coated and refrigerate for 1 hour.
In a large shallow bowl, combine the flours and spices.
When the chicken is done marinating, take out one piece at a time and fully coat each piece in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess before placing aside.
Pan fry the nuggets in enough oil to generously coat your pan over medium heat. I cooked for about 3-4 minutes each side until crispy and cooked through.
