If you’re looking for a simple, crowd pleasing appetizer, your journey has ended. Originally created by the incredibly talented @alisoneroman, this Greek Yogurt Dip with Sizzling Scallions is my own version of her classic recipe. Pretty much the same ingredients, but I found that adding the chili flakes first helps infuse the oil without burning the green onions. Think of it as a fancy, slightly spicy onion dip 👌🏼
Greek Yogurt Dip with Sizzling Scallions
- 2 cups full fat Greek yogurt sour cream + labneh work too
- 1 lemon juiced + zested
- 1/3 cup extra Virgin olive oil
- 1/3 cup scallions both white and green parts included
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- Chips or bread to serve I usually use pita chips
- Salt & pepper
Mix together the lemon juice, a pinch of salt and Greek yogurt. Spread in a large shallow bowl and set aside.
Heat a pan over medium low heat. Add olive oil and red chili flakes. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, being careful the chili flakes don’t burn.
Add in the scallions and let them sizzle until crispy, about 3 minutes.
Pour over the yogurt and top with lemon zest, salt & pepper. Serve with bread, chips or veggies.
