My dad is obsessed with his smoker so for Father’s Day I decided to make a recipe in honor of him! These are seriously some of the most delicious sliders I’ve ever had if I do say so myself! These would also be perfect for a Fourth of July grill out!
Ingredients
- 1 4-5 lb whole chicken preferably brined and spatchcocked
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Sliders:
- Hawaiian Rolls
- BBQ Sauce
- 2 cups homemade coleslaw
Coleslaw:
- 2 cups coleslaw mix
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp pineapple juice
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- If you have the time, I would recommend brining your chicken for this recipe (basically just soaking it in salt water). We also spatchcocked the chicken, which can be easily done at home or ask your butcher to do it for you!
- Prepare your smoker or oven and heat to 350 degrees.
- Mix together the seasonings above and generously coat the chicken, both the front and backside and underneath the skin.
- Once finished, remove from the heat and let it rest.
- We used the chicken to make sliders on Hawaiian buns with BBQ sauce and my dads homemade cole slaw!
