This comforting recipe is a grown-up version of the boxed Hamburger Helper we all used to love. It’s made in one pan in just 30 minutes, and it’s full of protein, spices, and a deliciously creamy sauce that will make you want to lick your plate clean! I love using Harmony Mediterranean Blend in here for a beautiful punch of savory herb flavor. Can’t wait for you to try this one – it’s going to be your new go-to weeknight dinner!
Let’s Make It
In a large, deep skillet with a lid, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 4 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally. Add the ground beef and break it up with a meat masher or wooden spoon. Increase heat to medium-high and cook for 6-8 minutes until the beef is starting to brown.
Stir in the tomato sauce, chicken broth, milk, Harmony Mediterranean Blend (or Italian seasoning), paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
Stir in the orzo and reduce the heat to medium. Cook uncovered for 12 minutes until the orzo is cooked through, stirring every 2 minutes to prevent the orzo from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Turn off the heat. Fold in the grated cheddar cheese and taste, adding more salt and pepper if desired.
Serve in shallow bowls with parsley and red pepper flakes on top and dig in!
