This recipe holds a special place among my ‘Back to the Basics’ favorites because mastering the art of perfect rice is simply non-negotiable! I want to be able to help you look in your fridge and whip up a meal with whatever you have on hand. Besides, who could resist the allure of perfectly fluffy rice? This one’s simple and straightforward, yet an essential step that can’t be overlooked!
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup jasmine rice
- 1/2 yellow onion
- 2 tbsp butter optional
- Kosher salt
Instructions
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Rinse rice in a fine mesh strainer and add to the boiling water. Bring to a boil and add in a pinch of salt and the half onion (keep it whole as we will remove it after cooking). Cover, reduce heat to low, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
- Remove the onion. Add in butter and cover until melted. Fluff with a fork and serve!
